Our Designers Shine at the 2015 Traditional Home Napa Valley Showhouse!

← BACK

As the 2015 Traditional Home Napa Valley Showhouse comes to a close, we can’t help but reflect on the gorgeous rooms our designers presented this year. Whether a moody master dressing room or a shimmering ombre dining parlor, our seven designers showcased stunning designs, reimagining the natural beauty of the Napa Valley through their own signature styles. The result is a collection of carefully curated spaces that will be featured in print in the October 2016 issue of Traditional Home. We couldn’t be more excited about the fantastic relationships our designers have forged with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Ann Maine and the wonderful online coverage they’ve already received in Curbed SF and California Home + Design! Below we’ve shared a little about each of the designers we worked with and the inspiration behind their chic design. Enjoy!

Julie Rootes’ Eclectic Dining Room

Julie Rootes of Julie Rootes Interiors crafted a vibrant dining room with artistic inspirations. Drawing on the dynamic pattern of Amanda Stone Talley’s “Fracture” drapery fabric, Julie’s design presents a fresh twist on traditional design. Playing with texture, Julie’s space features gorgeous vintage-inspired cut paper wallpaper by decorative painter Elan Evans. One of our favorite touches are bar’s wine bottles that are adorned with whimsical decorated corks.

A Frette-Inspired Guest Bedroom by Nanette Gordon

Tasked with creating a guest bedroom to accommodate the homeowner’s first and foremost visitor, his Mom, Nanette Gordon of Nanette Design created a peaceful Frette-inspired space. We adore how the room’s soft, inviting color story recalls the soothing colors of the Napa Valley. Chic touches such as the Frette cashmere bedspread, Kelly Wearstler lighting, and a Romo upholstered headboard give the room a soft, sophisticated feel.

David Hansen’s Rhapsody in Blue Master Bedroom

Inspired by the homeowners’ passion for travel and art, David Hansen of David Hansen Design's master bedroom is a soothing space for the couple to relax and reflect upon their day. Titled Rhapsody in Blue, the modern room is envisioned in deep blue with classic elements that pay homage to the Craftsman home’s traditional architecture. We admire how David selected vintage pieces such as a pair of T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings lacquered nightstands and a Tony Kitz Gallery antique rug to imbue the space a sense of history.

A Shimmering Dining Parlor by Elena Calabrese

For her natural luxe dining room, Elena Calabrese of Elena Calabrese Design and Decor collaborated with decorative painter Caroline Lizarraga to develop a one-of-a-kind glittering blue stone plaster wall treatment and brown crocodile print pattern for the bar and glass cabinet backs. Reinterpreting Napa’s organic colors through a luxury lens, the designer reupholstered vintage Milo Baughman in blue ombre velvet, selected a Maya Romanoff mica for the ceiling, and a statement diamond art piece by artist Danielle Mourning.

Catherine and Justine Macfees’ Sophisticated Vintner’s Kitchen

When designing the kitchen, dining nook, and butler’s pantry, mother daughter design duo Catherine and Justine Macfee of Catherine Macfee Interior Design drew inspiration from the homeowner, a winemaker, and the gorgeous landscape of the Valley. Infusing the space with warm colors and custom pieces, Catherine and Justine selected a hand forged metal peninsula, a custom hood, Medallion black onyx cabinetry and a Crossville elongated hexagon natural stone backsplash. We love how the designers outfitted the pantry with a beautiful set of Simon Pearce glassware ideal for entertaining.

An Out of Africa-Inspired Guest Bedroom by Courtney Lake

Influenced by the magic of warm Valley nights, Courtney Lake of Monogram Decor reimagined Wine Country through an Out of Africa lens. Centered around the bold Robert Allen Rajita Tiger print drapery, the space highlights custom modular upholstered built-ins created by Luke Austin of Oak & Wood that function as banquette seating or a guest bed depending on the homeowner’s needs. We’re inspired by Courtney’s sophisticated solution to this space.

Lizette Marie’s Moody Master Dressing Room

Lizette Marie Bruckstein of Lizette Marie Interior Design created a dark and dramatic Master Dressing Room crafted in a glamorous black palette. The daring design is centered around Lizette’s forthcoming candle collection, gilded decay, which include a Homme and Femme candle that when burned together combine to produce the Deconstructed Seduction master scent. The space is adorned with industrial touches such as copper clothing racks and vintage wooden shoe boxes, a Viz Glass flute chandelier, and contemporary photography by Danielle Mourning.

We’re still in awe of the fresh spaces our designers crafted in Napa Valley and look forward to the press that has yet to come. Don’t forget to grab a copy of the 2016 October issue of Traditional Home to see the designs in print!
