ICAA Watercolor Rendering Techniques with Michael Reardon

Please join the ICAA and Michael Reardon for a unique, one day studio in watercolor rendering techniques.  The workshop will cover the fundamentals of watercolor painting, such as painting wet-in-wet, painting washes, color mixing, and using values and color to represent a scene.  The workshop begins with an in-depth demonstration, followed by studio painting with individualized instruction and attention, depending on the experience of the student.  Students will use their own photo/image references for the studio painting. 

Michael Reardon has been painting in watercolor for over twenty-five years, using the medium to record his observations, convey a sense of place and light, and communicate his impressions of the built, natural, and imagined worlds.  An architectural illustrator for over thirty years, he was awarded the High Ferriss Memorial Prize in 2004, the premier award in the field of architectural illustration.  In 2005, he was the recipient of the prestigious Gabriel Prize from the Western European Architecture Foundation.  

Students must provide:
-Minimum of two round short handle watercolor brushes
-6x9 spiral bound sketchbook
-2B mechanical or grind pencils
-HB mechanical or grind pencils
-Photo or image you would like to illustrate

-Watercolor paper, basic paints (for the novice student), pallettes and additional supplies will be provided.  Experienced students are encourages to bring advanced materials.
